Volunteers needed to help build a playground

Posted on Monday, June 30th, 2008 at 10:47 AM EDT.

In the fall of 2007, Chrysler joined forces with KaBoom!, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America. Chrysler and KaBoom! have built five playgrounds across the country in various locations since the initial build at the BEST Academy in Highland Park, Mich. The Chrysler Foundation, Metro Detroit Dodge Dealers, Chrysler/Jeep® Superstores, Chrysler Financial and the city of Sterling Heights, Mich., are teaming up to build another playground in Delia Park, 3001 18 Mile Rd., Sterling Heights, on Saturday, July 19. The construction requires 150 volunteers from Chrysler to contribute their time and energy to building the playground structure. In addition, eight captains are needed on July 17 and on July 19 to lead the effort. No heavy equipment will be used, and you don’t need any construction experience—just the willingness to swing a hammer or wield a screwdriver. People are also needed who can help with activities like registration and food service. If you can lend a hand, please sign up through the volunteer database with the following link: Notes Link. Spouses and guests who are at least 18 years old also are welcome to participate. To bring a guest or if you have any questions about this initiative, please call Daphne Harris on tieline 722-3356 or send an e-mail to dvh@chrysler.com.
