Bacon wins Winchester; Coons claims points lead

Team Mopar® driver Brady Bacon led a one-two Mopar sweep at  the United States Auto Club (USAC) National Sprint Car Series at Indiana’s Winchester Speedway Sunday— the same day Mopars. took three of the top six spots, five of the top 10. It was the first USAC Sprint Car victory of the season for Bacon, driver of the Kasey Kahne Racing (KKR) No. 99 car, and the second straight for KKR. Jerry Coons, Jr. claimed the USAC Spring points lead. 

Team Mopar driver Allen Johnson captured his third No. 1 Qualifier Award of the season, advanced to the semifinals and moved into the seventh spot in the NHRA Countdown to 1 Pro Stock standings at the O’Reilly NHRA Mid-South Nationals on Sunday, Sept. 28. The HEMI®-powered Johnson, steering his Mopar/J&J Racing Dodge Stratus R/T, secured his sixth career No. 1 Qualifier Award with a pass of 6.591/208.52 on Friday at Memphis Motorsports Park.

Mopar HEMI-powered funny car contender Jack Beckman jumped from third to second in the Countdown to 1 playoffs standings on the strength of his quarterfinals finish Sunday at the 21st annual O’Reilly NHRA Mid-South Nationals.

Jason Daskalos advanced nine positions to earn a career-best fourth-place finish and pace all Mopar-powered Dodge Viper Competition Coupe drivers at the SCCA SPEED GT event Saturday at New Jersey Motorsports Park’s Thunderbolt Raceway. He was joined in the top 10 by Mopar-powered drivers Brian Simo and Jeff Courtney.

Team Mopar driver Joey Saldana and his Kasey Kahne Racing team were rained out over the weekend at the National Open at Williams Gove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa.
