Employee honored as volunteer of the year
Terri Billups, Program Manager—Powertrain and Chassis, was honored as the 2008 Corporate Volunteer of the Year by the Michigan Women’s Business Council (MWBC) at their eighth Annual Michigan Women’s Business Conference and Expo held last month.
In Billups first year as part of the Chrysler Diversity Supplier Development team, she managed to increase the level of “sweat equity” support to the Women’s Business Enterprise Council–Great Lakes, which covers Michigan and Indiana. With no budget, Billups engaged in activities associated with women-owned suppliers in lieu of financial support by hosting and volunteering at networking events, panel discussions and planning committees.
The MWBC offers programs and policies designed to expand opportunities and eliminate barriers in the marketplace for women business owners. The group also works with representatives of corporations to encourage the use and expansion of supplier/vendor diversity programs. Chrysler is a sponsor of the organization, serving in volunteer roles.
