How you can make holidays brighter for the troops

In honor of Veterans’ Day, Chrysler LLC is encouraging employees to enter a contest, sponsored by the Rogers Family Co. and Operation Gratitude, to write letters to deployed service members for the holidays.

During the holiday drive, Operation Gratitude plans to send 70,000 care packages to troops deployed in combat zones overseas, and it wants to include at least one letter in every box. To meet this goal, Operation Gratitude needs as many students, parents, teachers and Americans to enter the contest and write letters. The contest is open to all U.S. residents and runs through Dec. 12.

Operation Gratitude is a nonprofit organization that sends care packages and letters to individual U.S. troops deployed in hostile zones such as Iraq and Afghanistan, and onto military ships all over the world. The group was founded in 2003 and Operation Gratitude has delivered more than 350,000 packages to troops stationed around the world. Chrysler has been a supporter of the organization since 2004.

The Roger’s Family Co.—one of the nation’s largest, family-owned coffee producers—is offering three prize packages in a random drawing. Win the grand prize and your letter will be included in the 400,000th Operation Gratitude care package, $2,000 will be donated to the school of your choice and you will also receive a $250 gift certificate good for a year’s supply of a Roger’s brand of coffee and a $100 iTunes gift card.

For more information and to enter the contest, go to http://dearhero.opgratitude.com and click on the “Write a Letter” button. Upon registration and submission of your letter, you will be entered to win one of three prize packages, all of which include money for your chosen school and gift cards for you provided by the Rogers Family Co.
