Chrysler International reaches minivan milestone
This week, Chrysler International will record the 750,000th Chrysler minivan sold in markets outside North America. Appropriately, this milestone was reached as the company celebrated the 25th anniversary of the introduction of the minivan by Chrysler.
The first minivan sales in international markets were recorded in 1988. Since then, it has been the No. 1 selling vehicle, accounting for 23 percent of the more than 3.2 million Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge vehicles sold outside North America. The highest annual total was set in 1997 when 62,028 minivans were sold.
Chrysler introduced the segment 25 years ago and continues to be defined by the minivan not only in the United States, but around the world.
