The holidays just got a little brighter for children in Chrysler LLC plant communities across the country thanks to a $65,500 donation from The Chrysler Foundation to the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve Toys for Tots campaign.

In addition to the cash contribution, Chrysler employees at local facilities donated hundreds of toys that will benefit needy children.

“At Chrysler, we share a strong commitment to support our neighbors in need in the communities where we live and work, especially during this very special time of the year, which is why we’re so pleased to support Toys for Tots,” Frank Fountain, Senior Vice President—External Affairs and Public Policy, said. “In what has proven to be a very difficult year, Chrysler and its employees have demonstrated that determination and generosity will always triumph over adversity, no matter the odds.”

Chrysler first became involved with Toys for Tots in 1997. Since 1999, the program has expanded to include local toy drives at Chrysler plants and offices across the United States. This is the 14th year that the plants have participated in the fund-raiser.

“Even though times are tough, our employees have once again stepped up to help needy children experience the joy of Christmas,” said Ken Brune, Plant Manger—Warren (Mich.) Truck Assembly Plant, where the presentation of a giant check and hundreds of unwrapped toys was made to representatives from the U.S. Marine Corp. “We know that Christmas is all about the children, so we’re pleased that we’ve helped put smiles on so many young faces this year.”

The facilities included in this year’s donation are: Belvidere (Ill.) Assembly, Chelsea (Mich.) Proving Grounds, Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance (Dundee, Mich.), Plymouth Road Office Complex (Detroit), Jefferson North Assembly (Detroit), St. Louis Assembly Plant North (Fenton, Mo.), Sterling Heights (Mich.) Assembly; Toledo (Ohio) Assembly, Trenton (Mich.) Engine, Twinsburg (Ohio) Stamping, Warren (Mich.) Stamping, Warren (Mich.) Truck, Washington, D.C., Office; and the Mid-Atlantic Business Center (Elkridge, Md.).
