Playboy grants honor to Challenger SRT8®

The new issue of Playboy magazine is out, along with their annual list of the “Cars of the Year.” Among the 10 best vehicles is the Dodge Challenger SRT8® as “Hottest American Revival.”
Playboy editors said their dedicated team of gearheads spent the past year “driving everything new under the sun on roads and racetracks across the United States and Europe … if it’s out there, we hammered its throttle.” The Playboy honor joins a list of other awards garnered by the Challenger SRT8 from publications like Popular Mechanics, Top Gear and Consumer Guide.
In the story, Playboy said “…Dodge’s HEMI® Challenger SRT8 is a blast to drive. We hustled one around California’s Willow Springs raceway and couldn’t believe its agility and poise. The steering is spot-on, and the brakes seem fade-proof. The lusty V-8 blows an exhaust rap through its oversize tailpipes that sends chills up your spine.”
Editors added: “Purists will want the six-speed manual with an old-style “pistol grip” shifter. To complete the effect, go for the black-on-black leather, aluminum-accented interior and four-bomb analog gauge panel.”
The story is featured in the February issue of the magazine.
